24 Hour Fitness Challenge, 15/16th May - A BIG Thank You!

Well, what a whirlwind of a weekend that was!

Sue Jackson (Owner, Balance, The Countryside Gym) , Kathryn Edwards (Balance Instructor), Vicky Rees-Davies (Balance Instructor) and Julie Saunders (Loyal Balance member) took on the incredible challenge of exercising for 24hours straight to raise money for Millimetres2Mountains Foundation and Parkinson's Care & Support UK.

Our incredible instructor Vicky has recently been diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s so the Parkinson's Care & Support UK is close to her heart and Sue's step son Ed Jackson, the founder of M2M had to undergone an operation to repair a fracture dislocation of his C6/C7 vertebrae after an accident in 2017. Both Vicky and Ed are incredibly positive and inspiring people - which is where this idea stemmed from for the event!

Over the course of the weekend, our amazing instructors dedicated their time to teach a variety of classes, back to back! These included Yoga, DanceFit, Pilates, Boxercise and BounceFitBody (on mini-trampolines) which we decided to start and end the challenge on- lot's of fun!

We also had guest stars and instructors coming to support such as ex international England rugby player, Olly Barkley taking a Kettlebells class, Arron Collins-Thomas, owner of Toniq gym in Bath taking Qi Gong, and Lois Jackson, Ed’s wife and ex head academy coach for Bath Team Netball teaching us all things Netball.

We want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone involved whether you supported from home and donated or came to the gym. It really does mean the world to us here at Balance and the charities involved.

The Connie’s Tearooms in Timsbury provided us with some fabulous food to keep us going (absolutely delicious brownies!) and Cup Of Tea (owner by one of our members, Simon Collins) providing that much needed cup of tea!

In total, we had around 180 people joining in for the sessions throughout, with at least 50 of them on Zoom from home, and so far we’ve raised a whopping £4,777.50 split between the two charities! We couldn’t have done it without the support, encouragement and enthusiasm from everyone so a big THANK YOU.

If you haven’t donated yet and want to: Either scan the QR code on your smart phone from the photo below, go to our social media page to find the link, or copy and paste here:

Please also go to our instagram page, Balance, The Countryside Gym for a chance to win a Bullfrog bottle and recycled t-shirt from the competition we held at the weekend, you can join until the 21st May.

Thank you again everyone! Love, The Balance Team. x
